HIMB is located in Kāneʻohe Bay on the northeastern coast of the island of Oʻahu. Kāneʻohe Bay is on the windward side of Oʻahu and is the largest sheltered body of water in the Hawaiian archipelago. HIMB occupies a 29-acre island, approximately 0.2 miles from shore. The island, known as Moku o Loʻe or Coconut Island, is accessed by shuttle boat from Lilapuna Pier.
Flying to Oahu
The airport on Oʻahu is Honolulu International Airport (HNL), also know as Daniel K. Inouye International Airport. It is approximately 14 miles/23 km to HIMB from the airport. Traffic conditions are highly variable and affect travel time.
Getting to Lilipuna Pier
CAR – Please see parking information below.
BUS – Route 55 or 65 to Windward Mall (see overflow parking information below). Public transportation website: http://thebus.org/
If you get to the pier during normal business hours, you can walk to the shuttle boat dock, the boat driver will shuttle you to the island. Once you arrive, consult the map to get where you need to be.
Parking
Currently our HIMB parking lot is undergoing construction until further notice.
Right now we have offsite parking alternatives but you must get that information from your Faculty or Staff Sponsor that will be hosting your visit. Please contact your Faculty or Staff Sponsor for further information on how to get to HIMB.
Shuttle Van
The van operates Monday through Friday (except holidays) between our Offsite Parking Lot and Lilipuna Pier. You must also get this information on our Shuttle Van service from your Faculty or Staff Sponsor that will be hosting your visit to HIMB. When the shuttle van gets you to the HIMB Lilipuna Pier, you can take the shuttle boat to get onto Moku o Lo’e (HIMB).
