Katherine is a molecular biologist interested in broadening and improving upon the applications of environmental DNA in marine and aquatic systems. She enjoys finding new ways to ask questions about marine biodiversity and the impacts of invasive species, and is also curious about evolutionary processes and community composition shifts in our rapidly changing world. With the power of molecular lab techniques, Katherine finds it amazing that we can help answer big picture questions by looking at some of the tiniest building blocks of life. In the future she hopes to continue studies in molecular applications of marine conservation while promoting accessibility and inclusion in science. Outside of collecting molecules from water, she also collects creative hobbies and particularly enjoys painting.
