About
Annie is a fifth-year PhD Candidate at the Hawai‘i Institute of Marine Biology. Originally from Northampton, Massachusetts, she completed my Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology and Anthropology at Vassar College and my Master of Science degree in Biological and Environmental Sciences at the University of Rhode Island.
In January 2021, Annie began her PhD at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa, co-advised Drs. Elizabeth Madin and Lisa McManus. For her dissertation, she is studying how resource management, biocultural restoration, and climate change drive patterns in fish populations and fisheries harvest using a combination of marine fieldwork and mathematical modeling. Annie has partnered with government and nonprofit organizations, with the goal of conducting interdisciplinary and collaborative research to inform policies and benefit entire ecosystems, inclusive of people. Outside of research, Annie is passionate about integrating science and art, as well as mentoring the next generation of scientists.
