Researchers from the University of Hawaiʻi and Macquarie University have discovered that natural reefs follow precise geometric rules to optimize the survival of marine life. This "biological blueprint" is now being used to engineer 3D-printed reef modules that can significantly increase coral survival rates and jump-start the restoration of damaged marine habitats.
