In the future, special forensic kits could help identify species and individual sharks involved in shark attacks.

Research at HIMB by Carl Meyer, Derek Kraft, and Kaylee Scidmore-Rossing was featured on Hawaii News Now (http://www.hawaiinewsnow.com/2019/04/18/after-sharks-bite-new-forensic-kits-could-help-track-down-culprit/)

They have developed a shark bite forensic kit which can be used to collect DNA so that the species involved in specific shark bite incident can be identified. In the future, the kits might also identify individual sharks.
