Meet the SymbioSEAS Participants

Over 40 people, including 18 scientists from HIMB are participating in SymbioSEAS. It premiered on March 1, 2019 with the opening of the exhibit.

Beth Lenz, PhD Candidate in the Gates Coral Lab, initiated the project after receiving the Rafe Sagarin Innovative Ecology Award from the Western Society of Naturalists (WSN) and dedicated to Dr. Ruth Gates.

Events and the exhibit were made possible with sponsorship from WSN, University of Hawaii, National Science Foundation, Nerd Nite Honolulu, Hawaii Feast and Eat Cake. SymbioSEAS runs from March 1-30, 2019 in Honolulu at The ARTS at Marks Garage. SymbioSEAS uses art and science to connect audiences to coral reef ecology across multiple scales—from microscopic to global. Download the exhibit booklet to learn more about the participants.
